Tonico Lemos Auad focuses on the liminal or the easily overlooked stuff of the everyday, whether bunches of carpet lint taking the shape of furry creatures or the incised bruises on ripening bananas that form tattoo like imagery. Somehow these seemingly inert forms and materials become poignant repositories of human presence, memory, and time.
Tonico Lemos Auad was born in 1968 in Belém do Pára, Brazil. He now lives and works in London.
Tonico Lemos Auad is also represented by Galeria Luisa Strina in São Paulo and by Stephen Friedman Gallery in London |
